Confession: I didn’t use to eat very well. Actually, I just never thought about what I was putting into my body and more specifically how my body was reacting. I used to eat a lot of bread and pasta (although I think I blame that on being French) and it never made me feel good. Besides the fact that my digestive system didn’t love what I was eating, my whole body was sluggish and felt gross. I never really realized the importance of meat being a part of every meal, and I didn’t eat a huge variety vegetables. Continue reading
I am constantly complaining about how there are not enough places in Annapolis for paleo people to eat. Well, on Friday night I returned to one that I haven’t been to in over a year and I am happy to say that it was just as good this time as it was the last time I ate there.
I went out for my moms birthday with my sister and a few of my aunts to Level in downtown Annapolis and I left dinner very satisfied. Level is an awesome restaurant that is huge on sourcing their food from local, sustainable resources whenever possible. It is a “small plates” type of restaurant, so we ordered about 8 plates for all of us to share. Continue reading
Hello there! I know you probably thought that I completely abandoned my blog and gave up on cooking, but you were wrong. I was on a little mini-vacation for my second favorite holiday: St. Patrick’s Day. I went down to Ocean City, MD for four days with a group of friends. We have done this trip for 3 years now and I absolutely love it. However, I have to admit: my body is screaming “you are not 23 anymore!” Continue reading
I am one of those weird people who don’t usually hate Monday’s as much as the rest of the world seems to. I don’t particularly enjoy waking up for work any day of the week, Friday included. Today, however, I feel differently. This Monday sucks. I think it’s because of the whole daylight savings thing. I have exactly zero motivation to do anything. Including cook. Luckily, I have a ton of super quick recipes for days just like today. Unfortunately, there is no such “super quick fix” for working. Continue reading
I know, I know. It’s been days since I’ve posted anything. That whole working full-time and trying to have a social life really gets in the way of blogging. I promise, I have plenty of posts ready for you! I’m pretty embarrassed that my first post after almost a week is a really lame, rhyme-y titled post. Oh well. It is what it is.
So last Friday I went to Whole Foods because I have been dying to get my hands on some Tessemae’s paleo sauces. Imagine my excitement when I got there and not only were they doing samplings of a few of their sauces, but after talking with a brand ambassador I also found out that the company started right near my hometown of Annapolis, Maryland. Luckily for me, they have pretty much every flavor of Tessemae’s at my local Whole Foods. I ended up buying their ketchup, hot sauce (which is what I originally went for) and this super amazing soy ginger dressing. I have to admit, the ketchup is a little sweeter than I prefer and I still need to give the hot sauce another chance, but the soy ginger dressing is amazing. For how much I go through hot sauce, I’m not sure that I would keep buying it, and I don’t use salad dressings very often and when I do I would prefer to have a paleo version, so I will definitely keep the soy ginger in my fridge. I actually can’t wait to try more of their flavors. Continue reading
This is a picture from my ladies night out last night with (from left to right) my sister, my aunt Melissa, my mom and me! Ladies night = alcohol, appetizers and dancing. Dancing is good. The rest? Not so much.
This post came about for a few reasons. 1. I love chicken wings. I almost always try them when I go out to eat. 2. I love salt and I love vinegar. Put them together and I’m pretty much in heaven. 3. Salt and vinegar wings from Buffalo Wild Wings are so damn good, but they are in no way paleo (especially when you get the boneless ones like I tend to, which are breaded). 4. I have been asked about staying paleo when going out to eat and drink, and since that’s exactly what I did last night, the timing seemed appropriate.
